Scholarship Competition
The Opera Guild for Atlanta announces its Seventh Annual Scholarship Competition
- Competition Date: Sunday, April 21, 2024, 3:00-6:00 pm
- Audition Location: Morningside Presbyterian Church, 1411 North Morningside Drive NE, Atlanta, GA 30306
- Application Deadline: Received by Friday, March 22, 2024
- $35 Application Fee: Due with application
Eligibility
- No age limit
- Applicants must be enrolled as a voice major in a music undergraduate or graduate degree program
Prize Details: A $1000 Scholarship award each of the two divisions
- One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to the Undergraduate Division Winner
- The Tommy Trotter Memorial Scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded to the Graduate Division Winner
- One $500 Scholarship will be awarded from the Elizabeth N. Colson Encouragement Fund
- Applications are processed in 2 rounds starting March 23, 2024. Preliminary round will be your application submission and the Final round will be in person on April 21, 2024
- Winners of the first round will be notified by April 1, 2024
- All participants in the final round on April 21, 2024 will receive feedback from the judges.

- Video Submissions (Please note all selections are submitted via a YouTube link to your recordings. Make a playlist of your videos and include the link to your playlist. Videos must be recorded after September 1, 2023.):
- Undergraduate Division Level Students will submit 2 contrasting selections (2 arias or 1 aria and 1 art song)
- Graduate Division Level Students will submit 3 contrasting selections (3 arias or 2 arias and 1 art song)
- Recordings must be presented in high-quality, shot in landscape mode
- Please make sure you are well lit with a clear focus
- For those using a prerecorded accompaniment track be sure your sound level is comparable to your singing
Competition Repertoire List Requirements for the Finals on April 21, 2024:
- Undergraduate Competition Repertoire to include three (3) Opera Arias; OR two (2) Opera Arias and one (1) Art Song
- Graduate Competition Repertoire to include four (4) Opera Arias OR three (3) Opera Arias and one (1) Art Song
- Students who have won in the graduate or undergraduate category are not eligible to compete in the same category
